The Statue of Liberty was originally Brown

It's because of the copper the statue is made out of. Copper is initially brown, yet when it begins to oxidize, it changes color. The traditional green color we see today is extremely different from what we would have seen when it was initially built. Since it was built right on the water however, it would have oxidized relatively quickly, and because it was built in 1886, we don't have any color photographs to show what it would have looked like.

The reason the metal changes color is because of the moisture and elements it is subjected to. After arriving from France brown, the head of the statue of liberty would have begun to change as rain, salt, and moisture bombarded its copper exterior. As the copper interacts with these elements it slightly changes, forming a different form of basic copper consisting of a different color

Mercury orbital spacecraft Messenger

Three craters resembling the head of an iconic Disney character have been photographed by NASA’s Mercury orbital spacecraft Messenger.

The small rocky planet nearest to the sun is dotted with numerous craters. The ones resembling Mickey Mouse are located in the southern part of Mercury, to the northwest of the recently named crater Magritte.

Amazing Words

Humans may think they run the world, but there is another superpower who is really on top. They outnumber us a million to one. And little can stand in their way. Their engineers breach wide gaps in a single bound. Their workers lift weight twice their size. And the total weight of ants matches that of the entire human race.

The Amazing Water Point

This breathtaking viewpoint is from the Iguazu falls situated at the border of Argentina and Brazil.

Did U Spend Time With Your Childs

Spending maximum time with one's wife and children solves many problems and protects us and them from much evil. It is an act of worship to do so. The Messenger pbuh says: to gain saviour, find your home spacious - meaning, don't leave your home unnecessarily but rather, spend that time with those who deserve it most - your immediate family. Let us be honest with ourselves. How much of quality time do we really spend with our families? Our colleagues at work see us more than our our own household does! Our dining table is not the same as it was when we were little kids. Today breakfast, lunch and supper is spent either in front in front of the television or being busy on our mobile phones! what have we reduced our family

How water turbines work?

Photo: How water turbines work

The simple technology that harnesses the immense natural powerof water

Turbines are essentially propellers in reverse, both of which work in direct accordance to Isaac Newton’s third law – namely, for every action there has to be an equal and opposite reaction. In propellers, that means energy is put into a spindle of asymmetrical blades that puts pressure on the air or water, which pushes back to propel the vehicle.
Turbines are usually fixed in place, so when a fluid flows through it there is a drop in pressure at the back edge of each blade that causes the turbine to turn. The principle is the same for air or water and the faster the medium is moving, the greater the pressuredrop, and the faster theturbine spins.
It’s a much more efficient method than water wheels that yields greater hydraulic head (ie the amount of force the water can generate) with smaller apparatus. Historically turbines directly drove the huge factories of the 19th century, but since the dawn of electricity, they’re used to generate power that can be stored or passed on to the national electrical grid for a clean and renewable source of power.

Electrical Impedance

Photo: Electrical Impedance

Electrical impedance is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to the passage of a current when a voltage is applied. In quantitative terms, it is the complex ratio of the voltage to the current in an alternating current (AC) circuit. Impedance extends the concept of resistance to AC circuits, and possesses both magnitude and phase, unlike resistance which has only magnitude. When a circuit is driven with direct current (DC), there is no distinction between impedance and resistance; the latter can be thought of as impedance with zero phase angle.
